Born in Manhattan on July 4, 1958, I have been blessed to have annual remembrances of the birth of our great Republic coincide every year with all the joys of family and friend birthday celebrations. The second of five children, I grew up on Long Island in New York, first in Flushing, Queens, and then during my school years lived in Jericho, Nassau County. I was fortunate to be educated in a district that valued learning, under the leadership and encouragement of a host of excellent teachers, graduating in 1976, another banner year for our nation. More importantly I was reared in a home that feared God, loved Jesus, and supported His church. This led to my being called during 3rd grade Junior Church, by Holy Spirit via Mrs. Kuhn to acceptance of Jesus’ sacrifice for me. My faith walk has continued since that time, with varying velocities and struggles, but always wanting to follow Jesus and become more like Him. Membership in Christian Service Brigade under the guidance of mature Christian men helped keep me in the faith during challenging adolescent years. I have been made more aware of the brevity of life as of late (Psalm 39), and am trying to keep Jesus’ commandments better each day as an act of love and obedience.

I learned much of my appreciation for life and human dignity (Imago Dei) from my mother (now deceased), who as an obstetrical nurse during the ascendence of abortion in America, stood resolute for the cause of life and refused to participate in any work that did not value all infants in the womb. This set the stage for my lifelong advocacy for life at all stages and ages. Once I left “the Island” for Houghton College (chemistry major) in rural western New York, I resolutely pursued my calling and career path to become a Pediatrician. I have always related well to children, and God blessed me with stature that was not intimidating to the little ones. I met my wife of 46 years, Brenda Reber, at the very first Freshman chapel service at Houghton, and as a result of this providential introduction, we now share the joys of 3 children and 14 grandchildren, staying as involved as we can in their busy lives.

The University of Rochester was where I earned my M.D. degree, followed by internship and residency at Strong Memorial Hospital. As a member of the National Health Service Corps, I worked my first four years as a physician in rural south Florida, in a federally run clinic which served the poor in Clewiston, Florida. This sojourn served as a period of great growth both in profession and faith, before I was directly and again providentially called to employment in the Canandaigua Medical Group, where I practiced for just over 30 years, retiring in the summer of 2021.

Approximately 20 years ago, as a result of attending a Pregnancy Care Center banquet at Keuka College, I was called to accept the position of Medical Director for the Geneva Pregnancy Center, now known as the Family Hope Center. I read ultrasounds and oversaw medical aspects of the center for 16 years, before retiring from this role shortly after I retired from the practice of clinical Pediatrics. I was accepted as a board member after this and am honored to continue in this current capacity.

To round things out, hobbies and interests include music (I have played the violin since 4th grade and am currently in the Finger Lakes Symphony Orchestra-a member for 34 years!), stamp and coin collecting, casual golf, pickleball, kayaking, church activities (men’s Bible and prayer group, music, and 5 years as an elder), the Canandaigua Medical Society, and travel, particularly our National Parks.

Jill Sandroni

Board Member
Jill (Meyers) Sandroni has been looking for a positive way to serve families and children in the community.  New to the Board of the Family Hope Center she is becoming involved in different activities and is excited to bring new ideas and suggestions for the Center.  She is a lifelong Catholic who belongs to St. Francis-St. Clare Parish in Seneca Falls/Waterloo and serves as the Chairperson of the Parish Council.  Over the years Jill has been active in her church by teaching religious instructions, helping with Sunday mass, running the kitchen for the summer festival among other activities.  She has a very strong belief in Jesus Christ and his Mother Mary.

Jill earned a BFA  from RIT and a Masters Degree  in Art Education from Oswego.  After her retirement four years ago, she has focused on family, volunteering, gardening, subbing and is working on writing a book (anthology) of women’s faith.

The sanctity of life as well as her faith has been a priority in Jill’s life early on and well into her adult years.  She strongly believes in and is a proponent of life from conception to natural death.  Adoption takes a special place in her heart since she could not have biological children of her own.  She has two beautiful adult children whom she and her former husband adopted from foster care at the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 (sibling group of 2).  John and Sabrena have now blessed Jill and her family with two grandchildren which are the highlight of her and her husband Tom’s life!

I was born in Niagara Falls, New York, and have lived in various communities throughout New York State. I spent my junior and senior high school years in Buffalo before attending Keuka College, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. I fell in love with this region of New York State and have been proud to call it home ever since.

I have been a member of Faith Community Church since 1981, where I have found great satisfaction teaching children in Sunday School and organizing the Children’s Ministry. I currently serve as a member of the church’s Leadership Team and help lead our children’s ministry, Kid’z Quest.

I have worked at the Geneva Public Library for twenty-six years and truly enjoy connecting people with the information, resources, and services they need. I began my library career in 2000 as a part-time clerk in the Children’s Room and cross-trained at the library’s various service desks. I currently serve as a Library Assistant III, Technology Operations and Acquisitions, on the reference floor.

I also have the privilege of serving as the New York State Library Assistants’ Association Conference Coordinator. I have helped organize the last four conferences for library support staff throughout New York State, giving them an opportunity to learn new library procedures and technologies so that we can, in turn, educate our patrons to navigate new technologies and enhance their comfort level in dealing with change. Since December 2024, I have served on the board of the Family Hope Center. This has given me a wonderful opportunity to serve our community in a new way. I believe that God created each of us as a complete and unique individual from the moment of conception, with a purpose and a destiny to fulfill. When the opportunity to live out that destiny is taken away, the world is diminished by the loss of that individual’s unique gifts, contributions, and potential. I believe that strong families are the foundation of a strong community, and I am excited to be part of an organization dedicated to teaching, supporting, and encouraging families.

Jennifer Grace

Executive Director, Family Hope Center
Jennifer Grace brings nearly three decades of leadership experience in education, operations, hospitality, and community service to her calling as Executive Director of Family Hope Center, a Christian nonprofit dedicated to supporting women and families. Her work is grounded in a deep commitment to affirming God’s promise of life—and life in abundance—fostering resilience, empathy, and practical transformation for every woman and family she serves. These values have been shaped by more than thirty years as a wife to Nathaniel and mother to their two grown sons, Nicholaus and Benjamin, and continually refined through her walk with Christ. She holds a BS in Public Affairs and an MA in Social and Public Policy, complemented by extensive training in performing arts and religious studies.

Early in her career, Jennifer produced dozens of theatrical productions and large-scale community events, harnessing dance, music, and spoken word to build connection and illuminate shared human truths rooted in God’s design for relationship, dignity, and hope.

Her operational expertise was refined over more than a decade directing complex, high-volume organizations: she managed a renowned Renaissance festival in Upstate New York, overseeing event logistics, vendor coordination, staff training, and guest experiences; and later directed daily operations for an inn and restaurant on Martha’s Vineyard, handling seasonal staffing, guest relations, inventory, and community engagement in a demanding island environment.

Today, Jennifer channels that same disciplined leadership and relational care into Family Hope Center, serving women and families with the compassion and tenacity that flow from her faith and her unwavering belief in the sacred value of every life. She also teaches sociology and adult education at her local community college, continually sharpening the empathetic, evidence-based facilitation skills she brings to the Center’s work.

Spending much of her life as a resident of Upstate New York’s historic Burned-Over District—a region once ablaze with spiritual revivals, reform movements, and enduring faith—Jennifer remains guided by a steady commitment to truth, grace, and the defense of life. Under her leadership, Family Hope Center continues its mission of meeting practical needs while nurturing Christ-centered hope, dignity, and lasting personal growth for the women and families it serves.
